CORBIN \u2014 Lynn Camp\u2019s softball program continues to make history, doing so again after picking up a come from behind 9-7 win over rival Knox Central in a key 51st District showdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lady Wildcats (9-8 overall, 2-0 vs. 51st District competition) wrapped up the 51st District\u2019s top seed for the first time in program history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jorja Carnes and Allison Messer pitched during the game with Carnes lasting 2 1\/3 of an inning while giving up five hits and five earned runs. She finished with a strikeout while Messer pitched the final 4 2\/3 of an inning, scattering three hits while giving up a run. Messer struck out three batters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lynn Camp fell behind 3-0 during the top of the second, and 5-2 entering the bottom of the third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lady Wildcats scored three runs in the fourth inning while adding three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-5 lead. The Lady Panthers scored two runs in the final two innings but couldn\u2019t push across anymore runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is the first time Lynn Camp has secured a No. 1 seed in the district,\u201d Lynn Camp coach Nikki Hendrix said. \u201cProud of my team for getting it done. Knox came ready to play and jumped on us early. We didn’t give up, we showed fight and came back to get the win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI told them all week district games are always close, that records don’t matter and every team gets pumped to play their district opponents,\u201d she added. \u201cSeveral players came up with big hits tonight with runners on and we were able to capitalize. Allie Messer came in for us and pitched a great game. I want to thank all the fans for coming out supporting us tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lily Henize led the way with a 4-for-4 effort while scoring twice. Lauren Partin and Messer connected with two hits apiece and drove in two runs apiece. Partin also scored a run. Carnes had two hits and drove in a run while Julie Moore finished with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Chelsea Hendrickson scored once and finished with two hits while Charity Steele had a hit and an RBI. Cambree Prewitt finished with a hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jayne Swafford was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored for Knox Central (2-9, 0-1) while Macey Nelson had two hits and two runs scored. Hannah Melton, Aubrey Jones, and Zoey Hamilton finished with a hit and an RBI apiece. Hamilton and Jones also scored a run apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
