The Jaguars posted a 2-1 record during their trip to South Carolina and will enter next week\u2019s play back at home Monday for the first time this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Laurel (4-6) has played 10 games away from Alumni Field and will face-off against Knox Central Monday playing on the new turf surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Jaguars scored four runs in the first inning ing which was more than enough for pitcher J. Douglas Gilliam and Andrew Cupp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gilliam got the win, lasting four innings while allowing two hits and one earned run. He finished the game with five Ks. Cupp silenced Buchanan-Upshur\u2018s bats, tossing three innings while allowing one earned run. He struck out three batters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGot a good win against a good team, Buchanan Upsher,\u201d McWhorter said. \u201cThey threw really good pitchers at us. Luckily, we scored runs on them early due to some errors and J. Douglas Gilliam and Andrew Cupp were able to hold them off for the win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carter Kelley continued his red-hot hitting effort at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run scored and two stolen bases. Cam Hinkle also had two hits while Gilliam, Cooper Elza, and Cameron Smith had a hit apiece. Smith also scored once. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
