The defending 13th Region champion Corbin Lady Redhounds handed Whitley County its first loss of the season, getting revenge from a loss on the Kentucky 2A, Section 7 Tournament finals, defeating the Lady Colonels in another thriller, 3-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWow, I am so proud of my team tonight,\u201d Corbin coach Vanessa Ross said. \u201cWe looked at the stats from the 2A tournament and we made 41 errors during our game with Whitley that only had three sets. We talked about thinking outside of the box and eliminating those errors. We knew going into this season was going to be different due to losing 5 seniors but from the beginning our girls didn\u2019t want people to say that we were rebuilding, we are just a young team and had to find what works. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt every practice they came in and gave me 110 percent, we focused on our weaknesses and that involved slowing down our practices and holding each other accountable,\u201d she added. \u201cTonight was a true team effort. Everyone played a part in this victory tonight. We made errors but I feel that my girls had the heart and mental toughness to pull it out in the fifth set. They didn\u2019t give up. It\u2019s a great day to be a Corbin Redhound. It\u2019s an honor to be their coach.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whitley County (6-1) won the first set with ease, 25-15, but the Lady Redhounds (5-2) battled back and won the second set, 25-21.
Corbin continued to build on its momentum it received after winning the second set by capturing the third set, 25-16. 
The Lady Colonels responded with a 25-18 win in the fourth set but the Lady Redhounds built a 9-1 lead in the fifth set before wrapping up a 15-7 victory.
The win is Corbin\u2019s 16 out of the last 17 times the two teams have played. The last time Whitley County recorded consecutive wins against the Lady Redhounds was back in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
