After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the second inning, the Lady Jaguars exploded for seven runs in the bottom half of the inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Laurel (2-1) put the game away with two runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood game by our girls,\u201d North Laurel coach Christina Edwards said. \u201cWe pitched very well and came back and played good defense tonight. The other night at Rockcastle, we survived even though we made a bunch of defensive mistakes. I challenged my girls the last couple of days to focus on defense. Tonight paid off from them. Zero errors. Pitching and defense will win a lot of games.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katie Keen delivered a grand slam in the win for the Lady Jaguars while finishing with four RBI, two hits, and two runs scored. Saige McClure had two hits, four RBI, and a run scored while Ellie Adams finished with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Morgan Edwards delivered two hits while scoring twice. Bella Finley had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. Reeselyn Garland connected with two hits, and scored once while Katie Adams had a hit and two runs scored. Tessa Monhollen finished with a hit and an RBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOffensively, a grand slam by Katie Keen in the second got us started,\u201d Edwards said. \u201cMultiple hits by seven others got us in a position to win the game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emma Carl got the win, tossing four innings while allowing three hits, no earned runs and finishing with three strikeouts. Monhollen tossed two scoreless and hitless innings while striking out four batters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPitching, Emma Carl started and pitched good,\u201d Edwards said. \u201cShe is still getting into softball shape after basketball season. Only three hits and three strikeouts. No earned runs. Tessa Monhollen pitched the last two. No runs and four strikeouts. Great job by those girls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOverall, I\u2019m satisfied with how we played,\u201d he added.So very early in the season but we accomplished our first goal, the first district seed game. We will turn our attention to our triangle tomorrow and then South on Monday. Go Jags.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Candice Williams led the Lady Generals (5-3) at the plate with two hits while Kylie Moore finished with one hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
