<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"CORBIN \u2014 A five-game losing skid a month ago had many scratching their heads wondering what was wrong with Isaac Wilson\u2019s Corbin Lady Redhounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apparently the losses were nothing but a bump in the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Corbin is 5-1 since, which includes Friday\u2019s impressive 61-51 win over the state\u2019s No. 4 ranked team, Pikeville Lady Panthers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pikeville entered the contest with a 19-3 record. Their only loss to a in-state team at the time occurred on Jan. 28 in the finals of the All \u2018A\u2019 Classic Tournament against Covington Holy Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Corbin (15-8) took a 14-11 lead in the first quarter, and never looked back, leading the Lady Panthers at halftime, 31-26, and 45-39, entering the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cProud of my team tonight and one heckuva win,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cDepending on what poll you look at, Pikeville is ranked top five in the state currently and they\u2019re the All \u2018A\u2019 runner-ups this season. They are led by DI point guard Trinity Rowe and they have an unbelievable basketball team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Corbin\u2019s defense locked down Rowe, who entered the game with a 17.4 scoring average while behind held to 11 points on Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI thought that we came out and played defense a lot like we did early in the basketball season,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cOur defense early this year was a key contributor to us getting off to a hot start to begin this season. I thought tonight we got back to buying in on the defensive side of things, and was able to frustrate them throughout the game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wilson had four players score in double figures as Kallie Housley led the way with 17 points while Bailey Stewart finished with 14 points. Kylie Clemens and Raegan Walker each had 10 points apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
