Jeff Davis\u2019 squad did what it does best, turning in another stellar defensive effort while limiting the defending 10th Region champions to their lowest point total of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cardinals trailed 31-21 at halftime before outscoring GRC by 13 points in the second half while handing Josh Cook\u2019s Cardinals their first loss of the season with a 60-57 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cClark County is a really tough team and extremely well-coached,\u201d Davis said. \u201cOur guys never gave up when we got down 15 and kept grinding. We had guys step up and make some bugs plays. Our bench played well. Big confidence boost for our bunch but we still have a lot to work on and get better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel (8-2) will now play for the Richmond Car and Truck Center Tournament\u2019s championship Friday at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Colton Rawlings led South Laurel with 30 points while hitting five 3-pointers and going 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Jordan Mabe added 15 points while Josh Steele scored eight points, Jordan Steele finished with four points, Garrison Brown had two points, and Blaine Baker chipped in one point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel finished the game hitting 18-of-21 shot attempts from the free throw line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
