The Lady Cardinals fell behind early in the first half, and trailed by nine points at halftime before cutting into their deficit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Souder\u2019s squad had a chance to win in the end, but couldn\u2019t come up with the game-winning basket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell we played a very timid 1st half and dug a hole \u2014 down by nine at the half,\u201d Souders said. \u201cWe played much better in the second half. They made a shot with about eight seconds remaining, and we got to the rim and Jamie (Buenaventura) probably got fouled, but I don\u2019t blame the officials for not calling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lady Cardinals struggled from the free-throw line, hitting 23-of-32 attempts from the free-throw line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maci Messer and Shelbie Mills led South Laurel with 16 points apiece while Buenaventura and Skeeter Mabe scored 12 points apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
