Brooke Nichelson led the Lady Jaguars with 15 points and 14 rebounds in only 17 minutes of action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis was a good win against a scrappy Leslie County team, especially when we had to battle some foul trouble with Chloe McKnight getting two early, and rather confusing fouls that sidelined her early,\u201d Mahan said. \u201cThe rest of the team stepped up though and played well on both ends.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Laurel (5-2) wasted little time taking control for the game by building a 15-6 advantage in the first quarter behind Nichelson\u2019s six points, and Jaelyn Black\u2019s five points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Black added five more points in the second quarter, helping the Lady Jaguars\u2019 lead grow to 28-15 at halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Black added six more of her game-high 16 points in the third quarter as North Laurel used a 12-3 run to put the game out of reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBrooke and Jaelyn led the attack on the offensive side, but it was a complete team effort defensively,\u201d Mahan said. \u201cNo matter how deep we had to go on the bench because of foul trouble the entire team played good defense. The second half we didn\u2019t play our starters very much as we play again tomorrow and the bench players were able to hold their own while getting good varsity experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
