South Laurel\u2019s first game in the Mike Bromagen Lady Cats Legend Tournament was a good one if you\u2019re a Lady Cardinals fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Laurel improved to 5-3 overall, and received an 18-point scoring effort from Skeeter Mabe, as the Lady Cardinals cruised past Menifee County, 62-41.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chris Souders\u2019 squad held a slim 28-24 advantage at halftime, but out the defensive clamps on Menifee County in the second half, outscoring them, 34-17, en route to their 21-point victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJust a really sloppy game,\u201d Souders said. \u201cWe did not play very well for a majority of the game. The score is a little misleading. Just didn\u2019t play with the same energy we had been playing with. Being on Christmas break has adjustments you have to make with the schedule. Being so young, we just didn\u2019t come out with the right approach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSkeeter was big tonight and I was also impressed with Kylie Smith and Callie Jones,\u201d he added. \u201cBoth gave us a spark when we needed it. We will have to play better tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mabe dominated throughout the contest, scoring four points in the first quarter, five points in the second quarter, four points in the third quarter, and five more points during the game\u2019s final eight minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shelbi Mills finished with 11 points \u2014 all in the second half while Maci Messer added 10 points with eight of those coming in the first quarter. She also finished with two 3-pointers. Callie Jones scored nine points while Aubrey Bundy finished with five points. Kylie Smith, Jamie Buenaventura, and Emma Adams each finished with three points apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
