Just when Lynn Camp coach Tyler Wagner thought his team was making positive steps the past few days, his Wildcats dropped a disappointing 85-63 decision to Cumberland Gap, Tenn. during Thursday\u2019s consolation first round of the Redmond Auto Group Holiday Classic.
\u201cAnother tough loss today,\u201d Wagner said. \u201cWe took some steps back today. A lot of things our team has been getting bragged on about, such as our effort and how hard we play on the defensive end just wasn\u2019t there today. Credit to Cumberland Gap, they came out and hit us right in the mouth. We allowed straight line drives and we didn\u2019t get out on the shooters. We got out rebounded and didn\u2019t execute on offense.
\u201cBut this is not the time to hit the panic button,\u201d he added. \u201cOur kids just have to dig deep inside and have more of a want-to, to show up every day. We\u2019ve not been everyday guys lately and it has been showing. We\u2019ve done some good things but the bad has out weighed the good that\u2019s for sure. I take full responsibility for the way we\u2019ve played. I need to bring more energy to our team and I need to be the one setting the tone for us and getting us ready mentally. I truly believe our kids want to succeed I just need to guide them there.\u201d
Tate Mills turned in a 25-point scoring effort for Lynn Camp (2-7) while Caleb Woods hit three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points. Ethan Burd tallied eight points and hit two 3-pointers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
