{"id":18885,"date":"2023-12-15T22:53:53","date_gmt":"2023-12-16T03:53:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.13thregionmedianetwork.com\/?p=18885"},"modified":"2023-12-15T22:53:55","modified_gmt":"2023-12-16T03:53:55","slug":"corbins-depth-plays-big-role-in-81-50-win-over-williamsburg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.13thregionmedianetwork.com\/?p=18885","title":{"rendered":"Corbin\u2019s depth plays big role in 81-50 win over Williamsburg"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WILLIAMSBURG \u2014 Tony Pietrowski\u2019s Corbin Redhounds showed just how depth they possess once again during Friday\u2019s 81-50 win over Williamsburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Redhounds had 10 players score while three finished in double figures, and two more scored nine points apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Corbin built a 22-9 lead in the first quarter, and held a commanding, 47-21, advantage at halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHappy to get the win,\u201d Pietrowski said. \u201cAny time you can pick up a district seed win it\u2019s a positive. We played with a tremendous amount of effort, which is very encouraging. Our depth was crucial also considering the foul trouble we were in most of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zander Curry led the Redhounds (2-0, 1-0 vs. 50th District opponents) with 21 points while Connor Middleton, and Carter Stewart each scored 10 points apiece. Ryder Akins, and Eli Pietrowski both chipped in nine points apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPlenty of areas we can improve upon, but excited about the upside of our team,\u201d Pietrowski said. \u201cZander pieced together another very impressive game. I thought Eli, Trey Blalock and Trey Worley did an excellent job on the boards. We had balanced scoring again. Excited about my team. Need three good days of practice heading into next week\u2019s tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The loss dropped Williamsburg to 4-3 overall, and 0-1 against district opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Henry Bowling led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points while Andrew Smith added 14 points. Connor Saylor chipped in 11 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTough night for us,\u201d Williamsburg coach Anthony Hibbard said. \u201cCorbin jumped on us early and we never could establish any kind of rhythm. We also got into early foul trouble, which also hurt us.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCredit to Corbin and their aggressiveness,\u201d he added. \u201cWe got a group that does not have a lot of game experience, so any game, even the tough ones are beneficial. We have to regroup, get healthy, and get back in the gym. It does not get any easier during Christmas break.
