Led by Tate Mills\u2019 20-point scoring effort, the Wildcats (2-2) overcame a slow start and \u00a0jumped out to a 9-8 lead in the first quarter, never looking back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe came out tonight and in the first quarter, we came out slow,\u201d Lynn Camp coach Tyler Wagner said. \u201cIn the second quarter, we really turned up the defense and got the ball moving. We were able to push it ahead and run the floor really well and finish some shots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI came into halftime challenging them to not come out flat and extend the lead and we did just that,\u201d he added. \u201cWe came out in the third and started turning the ball over and getting some easy buckets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mills and Zach Thorpe scored eight points apiece in the second quarter to push Lynn Camp\u2019s lead to 29-12 at halftime. Thorpe knocked down two 3-pointers during the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Wildcats used a 22-10 run to put the game away in the third quarter while building a commanding 51-22 lead entering the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mills and Ian Agosto both scored seven points apiece during the third quarter while, Thorpe and Jayden Woods each hit a 3-pointer apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Caleb Wilburn, Caleb Jones, and Mills out the finishing touches on Lynn Camp\u2019s 34-point victory by hitting a 3-pointer apiece in the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen we get locked in for 32 minutes, and we have our mindset to guarding the ball and going to the boards collectively as a group, we can compete with some teams,\u201d Wagner said. \u201cWe held a Red Bird team that\u2019s scored 55 and 42 points the past two games, to 30 tonight. That shows progress to me that we have the mentality to shut people down and keep the throttle pushed down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have a big test tomorrow with Eric Swords and Whitley County coming in here and I\u2019m excited to see how we respond,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m excited about this group, we didn\u2019t take 10 steps backwards tonight. Felt great to get our first home win, now if we can just stick to the plan and battle no matter the outcome. We will surprise some people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Wildcats hit nine 3-pointers in the game. Agosto joined Mills in double figures, finishing with 12 points while Thorpe added 11 points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
