DANVILLE \u2014 Boyle County ran its perfect record to 11-0 and wasted little time putting Whitley County away during Thursday\u2019s first round action of the Class 4A playoffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rebels scored 41 unanswered points in the first half, and never looked back during 41-6 win over the Colonels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whitley County had no answer for Boyle County quarterback Sage Dawson, and wide receiver Montavin Quisenberry. The duo hooked up twice in the first half for touchdowns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dawson threw for three touchdowns in the first half, and ran for another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The loss turned out to be the Colonels\u2019 fourth in a row as they finished the season with a 5-6 mark after starting their 2023 with a 5-2 record. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After forcing Whitley County to punt on its first serious, Boyle County showed why it\u2019s the three-time defending Class 4A state champion my scoring on its first offensive play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dawson connected with Montavin Quisenberry for a 58-yard touchdown pass to give the Rebels a 7-0 lead at the 8:36 mark of the first quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A turnover by the Colonels on their second offensive possession led to another Boyle County touchdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dawson\u2019s second touchdown pass, an eight-yarder by Demauriah Brown, increased the Rebels\u2019 lead to 14-0 with 6:01 left in the first quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boyle County continued its dominance on its third offensive series as Dawson threw another touchdown pass, this time a 52-yarder to Geordon Brown, pushing its lead to 21-0 with 2:41 remaining in the first quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dawson added a rushing touchdown in the second quarter (9:51), breaking free for 27 yards, giving the Rebels a 28-0 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avery Bodner added his team-leading 16th rushing touchdown of the season at the 7:04 mark of the second quarter as Boyle County\u2019s lead grew to 34-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rebels were able to put a running clock into affect on their ensuing offensive possession as Dawson and Quisenberry hooked up for a touchdown a second time from 71 yards out as Boyle County\u2019s lead increased to 41-0 with two and a half minute remaining in the first half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whitley County opened the third quarter with an onside kick and recovered leading to Tye Hamblin\u2019s 32-yard touchdown pass to Dee Parker while cutting the Colonels\u2019 deficit to 41-6 with 9:23 remaining in the third quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
