LONDON \u2014 It wasn\u2019t easy, but in the end, the Corbin Lady Redhounds did what they needed to do to survive and advance in the 50th District Tournament\u2019s semifinal round against rival South Laurel.
The Lady Redhounds (17-7) spotted the Lady Cardinals (14-21) a 2-0 lead before rallying to fight back and capture a thrilling 3-2 victory, punching Corbin\u2019s ticket into the 13th Region Tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFirst off, I have to give credit to a really well-coached South team,\u201d Corbin assistant coach Krystal Jones said. \u201cThey came out with a great game plan tonight and executed it very well.  It threw us off of our game entirely and it showed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe fought through it though, by getting back to defensive fundamentals and getting under their attacks,\u201d she added. \u201cWe were able to start setting up our offensive to be more aggressive .  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Nikki and I couldn\u2019t be more proud of our girls tonight. The heart they showed to come back from a two-set deficit to rally three straight wins is something that special, especially when the stakes are win or go home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlso, our fans are always the best, that\u2019s our Redhound pride, but tonight they were on another level,\u201d Jones continued. \u201cWe owe them a lot credit for our motivation to keep fighting tonight.  We need them to show up even bigger and louder tomorrow night.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The Lady Redhounds have now won 15 consecutive matches against South Laurel, and will be back in action Tuesday in the 50th District title game against Whitley County at 7 p.m.
Corbin and the Lady Colonels have met three times this season with Whitley County winning all three matches.
The Lady Cardinals jumped out on Corbin in the first set, winning, 25-19, before pulling off a 26-24 win in the second set.
It looked as if South Laurel was going to wrap up the match in three sets but the Lady Redhounds rallied and won the third set, 25-22. Corbin had the momentum, and captured the fourth set, 25-17, and completed the comeback win with a 15-9 victory in the fifth set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
