LONDON \u2014 North Laurel surpassed its season total of 46 points by turning in its best offensive effort of the season.
Quarterback Hunter Morgan turned in a career game, finishing with more than 200 yards passing while tossing three touchdowns during the Jaguars\u2019 62-0 blowout win over crosstown rival South Laurel in the First Priority Bowl.
The Jaguars entered the contest averaging a little over nine points per game, but looked unstoppable on Friday.
The win improved Jason Chappell\u2019s squad to 3-3 overall, and 1-1 in district play while South Laurel is now 4-3, and 0-2 in district play.\u00a0
\u201cLike every game this season, our kids played incredibly hard and we\u2019re very physical,\u201d Chappell said. \u201cWe were able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides. Defensively, we flew around and made tackles in space\u2026
\u201cOffensively, we were very physical up front and Hunter Morgan made several plays through the air,\u201d he added. \u201cIt was one of these games where everything kind of went our way. I\u2019m proud of our kids effort.\u201d
North Laurel wasted little time taking control of the game against its crosstown counterpart.
A 19-yard touchdown run by Treyshawn Holmes-Evans gave his team a 7-0 lead just two minutes into the contest.
Hunter Morgan connected with Holmes for a 12-yard touchdown pass with 3:40 left in the first quarter to push the Jaguars\u2019 advantage to 14-0.
Morgan\u2019s 40-yard touchdown pass to Jack Chappell continued North Laurel\u2019s dominance as the Jaguars\u2019 lead increased to 21-0 at the 11:52 mark of the second quarter.
Special teams play got into the scoring action during North Laurel\u2019s fourth touchdown of the contest. Freshman Jude McWhorter was off to the races after breaking loose and scoring on a 53-yard punt return to give the Jaguars a comfortable 28-0 advantage with 5:25 remaining in the first half.
North Laurel continues its dominance in the second half as Ethan Gregory found paydirt for the second time this season, pounding his way for a five-yard score to increase the Jaguars\u2019 advantage to 35-0 just 53 seconds into the third quarter.\u00a0
The Jaguars\u2019 second touchdown on special teams came a few minutes later as Chappell blocked a punt, and returned it for a touchdown as North Laurel\u2019s lead grew to 42-0 with 8:35 remaining in the third quarter.\u00a0
Morgan\u2019s third touchdown pass of the game, increased the Jaguars\u2019 lead to 49-0 with 4:04 left in the third quarter. He hit Cole Messer for a 70-yard strike.
North Laurel added two more touchdowns, a 39-yard fumble return from Logan Hall, and a 34-yard rushing touchdown by Austin Johnson to wrap-up its 62-0 win.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
