CORBIN \u2014 It\u2019s been an interesting few months for Corbin\u2019s Jerod and Jacob Smith.
The twin brothers transferred to Corbin during the summer with both committing to play football for the University of Michigan.
Once they made their trek from Connecticut to play football for the Redhounds, many wonders if the Redhound senior defensive players would flip their commitment to the University of Kentucky.
For the past two months, the twins didn\u2019t show their hand.
And then this past week, they decided they were going to announce the flip, win or lose, after Corbin\u2019s game against Frederick Douglas.
\u201cWe didn\u2019t tell anyone,\u201d Jacob Smith said. \u201cWord gets around quick in a small town.\u201d
Corbin coach Tom Greer admitted he didn\u2019t put any pressure on the Smiths, and gave them the advice to \u201cgo where they knew where they wanted to be. Where they would have fun.\u201d
So in the end, they both chose Kentucky.
\u201cI know we both wanted to be closer to family, and home,\u201d Jerod Smith said. \u201cWe lived in Kentucky for eight years. Once we came back, we started to think about it.\u201d
\u201cBeing closer to home and family is one of the main reasons,\u201d Jacob Smith added. \u201cI\u2019m excited that we are both going to play for Kentucky. I love their colors, so yeah, I\u2019m excited.\u201d
Both Jerod and Jacob also said they\u2019re excited to be able to play with each other as Wildcats.
\u201cThat\u2019s huge for us,\u201d Jerod Smith said. \u201cI\u2019m really excited.\u201d
\u201cI really felt like (University of Kentucky) was where I needed to be,\u201d Jacob Smith said. \u201cI really believe in coach (Mark) Stoops, and coach (Vince) Marrow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
