Saige McClure and Morgan Edwards turned in impressive numbers at the plate during the two games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
McClure went 5-for-7 with six RBI, and a home run, and two runs scored. Edwards went 6-for-7 with two runs scored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Game Two<\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Laurel 11, West Jessamine 0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lady Jaguars wasted little time knocking off West Jessamine, scoring three runs in the first inning, four more in the second, a run in the fourth, and three runs in the fifth to pick up an easy, 11-0 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe jumped out early and took control of this one,\u201d Edwards said. \u201cThree in the first and four in the second is a good way to start the game. Home runs from Saige McClure early in the game and then a three run home run by a Reagan Isaac to walk it off on the fifth inning. We played so much better in the second game. We caught everything we should have and made all the plays we should have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cReagan Isaac started this one and went the distance,\u201d he added. \u201cShe gave up a single to their lead off hitter to start the game and that was the only hit she gave up. She really threw well again. She\u2019s had a great weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese two games really tell the difference on how good we can be when we catch the ball,\u201d Edwards continued. \u201cHad to win a shootout in the first one and was really in control during the second game.\u00a0Time to rest tomorrow, Wolfe County on Monday and the last district seed game Tuesday at home against Clay County.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saige McClure continued to swing a hit bat, hitting her fourth home run of the week while going 3-for-3 with four RBI, and two runs scored. Morgan Edwards continued her impressive hitting at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Katie Sams had two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI. Reagan Isaac was 1-for-3 with three RBI, and one run scored while Emily Sizemore finished with a hit, one RBI, and three runs scored. Bella Sizemore drove in a run while Ellie Adams scored once. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Isaac notched the win, tossing five innings while allowing only one hit. She also struck out three batters. She also went 1-for-3 with a home run, 3 RBI, and one run scored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Game One<\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Laurel 11, Madison Southern 10<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lady Jaguars looked like they were going to cruise to a win but a late rally by Madison Southern out North Laurel on its heels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chris Edward\u2019s squad led 9-4 entering the sixth inning before the Lady Eagles tied the game at nine apiece. The Lady Jaguars responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, and held on to win, 11-10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMadison Southern is a team that gives us fits for some reason,\u201d Edwards said. \u201cWe led through most of the game and all of a sudden we give up a home run to tie the game in the sixth. They did the same thing to us when we went up there. A very good and scrappy team that never quits. We were lucky to survive this game. We had a bunch of hits, everyone in the lineup had at least one and Haley Cooper hit a home run. Very happy how we are seeing and hitting the ball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDefensively, it was not our best effort,\u201d he added. \u201cAt least two errors and a couple of other misplays that we haven\u2019t been making. Maybe it was the expected let down after playing South last night, the early start, I had them out early to get the tarp off the field. The effort was there but we could have executed better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPitching wise, Emma Carl started and went a couple of innings,\u201d Edwards continued. \u201cHaley Cooper then came in and pitched most of the game and got the win. Reagan Isaac came in at the end and got the save. These girls have been very impressive all season long. Sometimes we have pitching plans and something happens to throws those plans out the window. These girls have answered the call every time I\u2019ve asked and to do so as young as they are is very impressive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emma Carl started the game in the pitcher\u2019s circle, and last two innings, allowing six hits, and three earned runs while Haley Cooper got the win, going 4 1\/3 of an inning while allowing nine hits, and two earned runs. Reagan Isaac went 2\/3 of an inning, grabbing the save while striking out two batters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
