LONDON \u2014 Eighth grader Kenzie Williams struck out a career high 15 batters while South Laurel\u2019s one through four hitters combined to go 9-of-13 at the plate with with three RBI during the Lady Cardinals\u2019 10-4 win over Pineville.
Williams scattered four hits in the win while allowing three \u00a0earned runs. The Lady Mountain Lions\u2019 Rachel Howard tossed six innings, allowing 13 hits, and eight earned runs while striking out 11 batters.
\u201cHoward is definitely a great pitcher,\u201d South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. \u201cWe had some timely hits to produce runs and it was good to see them get hits against a great pitcher.\u00a0
\u201cThe top of our lineup is hitting really well and we also had some timely hits from the bottom of the lineup but we still have some things we are looking to improve on,\u201d she added. \u201cKenzie pitched well tonight. She is young and continuing to improve each day.\u201d
South Laurel (4-2) built a 4-0 lead before Pineville (1-3) added two runs in the top of the fourth to cut their deficit to 4-2.
The Lady Cardinals responded with a run in the fifth inning while adding five more runs in the sixth inning to put the game away.
Addison Baker, and Aubree Laster had three hits, and two runs scored apiece while Emmie Rice had two hits, and two RBI. Morgan Jackson delivered two hits, one RBI, and one run scored. Madison Worley finished with a hit, a run scored, and two RBI while Skye Lawson delivered a hit, and an RBI while scoring once. Bailey Frazier also had a hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
